Selecting an S7-1500 CPU: 1511 vs 1513

Start from cycle time and work memory, not from the brochure. A 1511-1 PN covers most packaging OEMs under 150 kB and modest motion. Move to 1513 when you add several technology objects, larger recipe data or a second Profinet line-load. Failsafe is a different MLFB (F CPU) — never assume a standard CPU can run F-I/O.
